How do Purchasing Intentions Evolve?

Between July and October 2020 in Central America the number of people trying to buy home office furniture online increased 71%, and the number of consumers looking for car insurance policies grew by 8%.

CentralAmericaData's interactive platform, Consumer Insights, monitors in real time changes in consumer habits in all markets in the region and in other Latin American countries, with fundamental information to understand their behavior, new trends and anticipate eventual changes in their purchasing patterns.

For this analysis, CentralAmericaData collected data on the number of Central American consumers who in July showed their interest in purchasing various products and services through the Internet. In October the same information was collected again and the variations reported in the quarter in question were evaluated.

Details of some of the most outstanding findings:

Financial services: In this market, there was a 40% increase in the number of people in Central America seeking to refinance a mortgage, and a 23% decrease in the number of consumers trying to purchase home insurance.

Between July and October, the number of consumers trying to buy decorative living room tables grew 80% and the number of people looking for sofas fell 15%.

Consumer electronics: When analyzing the potential demand for this type of device, it can be seen that the number of people looking to buy cell phones increased by 16% and the number of consumers exploring options for buying professional music equipment or DJs decreased by 6%.

In the months under analysis, at a Central American level, the number of consumers who tried to hire the services of gyms or training centers in the digital environment increased 60%. In the case of those who explored options to access exercise classes or personalized training services, it grew 31%.
